Hanging on after most insects have gone

Natures a wonderful thing, but I think this is one pushing his luck , now the days are shorter
and colder

great find!
well, what we know as a dragonfly is only a fragment of the creature's lifespan. it spends most of its life living in streams and ponds as a larva and is a ferocious predator.

Ive not seen any since, but I did see my first FIRECREST lovely little bird, alas!! no picture was to quick and my camera was still in its bag.
